Individual Adult RECB Therapy

Individual RECBT Therapy is based on a collaborative therapeutic relationship that is established between a trained RECBT mental health professional and a client for the promotion of well-being and the treatment of specific psychological difficulties and individual problems. To achieve this, individual RECB therapy helps the client adopt a healthier philosophy of life, experience healthier emotions, learn and apply more functional behaviors which will help the individual achieve their personal and interpersonal goals.

Individual RECB Therapy is for individuals who experience mental health distress and dysfunction in their daily lives and towards others, for individuals who have been diagnosed with psychological disorders, individuals who need therapy in addition to medical treatment (i.e., pharmacotherapy), individuals who require more chronic therapy (over six months) and those that want to develop their personality by living rationally.

Usually, individual RECBT is carried out at a frequency of one session per week, with duration of 50 minutes for each meeting, but this frequency also depends on the severity of the case. The total number of meetings for individual therapy depends on the nature of the problem, the effectiveness of the treatment provided, collaboration between the therapist and the client and the client’s application of the (newly acquired) learning and skills during daily life.

The cost of an individual therapy session starts from 30€/50-minute session and varies depending on the therapist’s status (therapist-in-training, accredited therapist or staff accredited therapist). In addition, during the initial session, a comprehensive assessment package is administered with the additional cost of 50€. Assessment is obligatory for case conceptualization, diagnosis and assurance of the individual therapy’s monitoring and long-term effectiveness.

To schedule an appointment for an individual therapy, counseling or coaching session please contact the Institute’s Secretary at Tel: + 30 210 6128950 or by e-mail: info@recbt.gr

The general motto of RECBT is “Thinking rationally leads to feeling and behaving better” to paraphrase the words of Epictetus “We do not upset by the situations or events that occur but mainly by the views we hold about these situations or events”.

Group Adult RECB Therapy

RECB Group Therapy is based on a collaborative therapeutic relationship that is developed between a trained RECBT mental health professional and a group of at least 4 individuals for the promotion of well-being and the treatment of specific psychological difficulties and problems of the members of the group. To achieve this, RECB Group Therapy helps the group members to adopt a healthier philosophy of life and achieve their goals, including experiencing healthier emotions and acting with productive behaviors.

RECB Group Therapy is aimed at helping individuals who experience significant mental health difficulties that interfere with their daily lives, with diagnosed psychological disorders, with clinical and personality disorders, and who need therapy in addition to medical treatment, who need more chronic treatment (over six months) as well as for individuals who want to improve their interpersonal skills (i.e., social anxiety issues).

RECB Group Therapy can be structured and coherent to the characteristics of the mental disorder of its members (e.g., group for individuals with anxiety disorders – homogeneous group) or can be set up to treat a group of individuals with different characteristics (heterogeneous group).

Usually, RECB Group Therapy is carried out at a frequency of once a week with duration of one (1) hour and thirty (30) minutes at a time for each session, but this depends on the type of group and the nature of difficulties faced by its members. The total number of group therapy meetings depends on the nature of the problems, the effectiveness of the treatment provided, the transfer and application of the (newly acquired) learning and skills by the group members in their daily life, the cohesion amongst the group members and their participation in the group. The higher the commitment and persistence of the group members to the treatment goals is, the higher the probability for maximum benefit, including a shorter period to achieve their goals. The course of treatment depends on the evaluation of progress of the treatment carried out by the therapist in collaboration with group members.

The cost of a group therapy session starts from 30€/90 minute-session and varies depending on the therapist’s status (therapist-in-training, accredited therapist or staff accredited therapist). In addition, during the initial session, a comprehensive assessment package is administered with the additional cost of 50€. Assessment is obligatory for case conceptualization, diagnosis and assurance of the therapy’s monitoring and long-term effectiveness.

To schedule an appointment for a group therapy, counseling or coaching screening session, please contact the Institute’s Secretary at Tel: + 30 210 6128950 or by e-mail: info@recbt.gr

Online sessions are also available, upon request.

Family RECB Therapy

RECB Family Therapy is based on a collaborative therapeutic relationship that is developed between a RECBT mental health professional and a family (independently of family type) for the promotion of welfare and the assistance of psychological difficulties and problems within a family. To achieve this, a RECB Family Therapist helps family members to adopt a healthier philosophy of life, experience healthy emotions and act/engage in functional/productive behaviors.

RECB Family Therapy focuses on families where some or all members dysfunction significantly in terms of their mental health in their daily lives. In addition, RECB Family Therapy helps families where some or all members have been diagnosed with psychological disorders (i.e., depression, personality disorder), family members who need Therapy due to medical conditions and families where some or all members require more chronic treatment (over six months). Note that in family therapy, family members who are healthier may significantly help other family members who are less healthy and thus are often utilized as co-therapists and as mediators for the application and generalization of RECBT skills in everyday life.

Usually, RECB Family Therapy is carried out at a frequency of once a week with duration of one (1) hour and thirty (30) minutes at a time for each session, but this depends on the nature of difficulties faced by family members. The total number of family therapy meetings depends on the nature of the problems, the effectiveness of the treatment provided, the cohesion among the family members and the application of the newly acquired skills by family members in their daily life. The higher the commitment and the persistence of family members to the therapy goals, the higher the probability of the effectiveness of the therapeutic interventions and the shorter length of therapy will be required. The course of therapy also depends on the evaluation of progress of the treatment carried out by the therapist in collaboration with the family members.

The cost of an individual therapy session starts from 60€/90 minute-session and varies depending on the therapist’s status (therapist-in-training, accredited therapist or staff accredited therapist). In addition, during the initial session, a comprehensive assessment package is administered with the additional cost of 50€. Assessment is obligatory for case conceptualization, diagnosis and assurance of the individual therapy’s monitoring and long-term effectiveness.

To schedule an appointment for group therapy, counseling or coaching please contact the Institute’s Secretary at Tel: + 30 210 6128950 or by e-mail: info@recbt.gr

Online sessions are also available, upon request.

RECB Couple Therapy

RECB Couple Therapy is based on a collaborative therapeutic relationship that is developed between a trained RECBT mental health professional and a couple for the promotion of welfare and the treatment of specific psychological difficulties and dissatisfaction and problems that are experienced within the context of an intimate relationship (couple). To achieve this, RECB Couple Therapy helps the couple to adopt a healthier philosophy of life, healthier emotions and act with productive behaviors.

RECB Couple Therapy involves couples, regardless of sexual orientation, where one or both members of the couple dysfunctions significantly in terms of their mental health and daily lives, where one or both members of the pair have been diagnosed with psychological disorders, where one or both members of the pair have personality disorders, where one or both members of the pair require medical treatment in addition to therapy and where one or both members of the pair require more chronic treatment (over six months).

Usually, RECB Couple Therapy is carried out at a frequency of one session per week, with duration of one (1) hour and fifteen (15) minutes for each meeting, but it depends on the severity of the case. The total number of meetings for couple therapy depends on the nature of the problem, the effectiveness of the treatment provided and the couple’s compliance with applying the (newly acquired) learning and skills during daily life. The higher the commitment and persistence of the couple to treatment goals, the higher the probability that the treatment will be of short-term duration. The course of treatment depends on a progress monitoring assessment process carried out by the therapist in collaboration with the couple. Note that the therapist may propose individual RECBT for the individuals before or during RECB Couple Therapy.

The cost of a couple therapy session starts from 60€/75-minute session, according to the therapist status (therapist-in-training, accredited therapist or staff accredited therapist). In addition, during the initial session, a comprehensive assessment package is given with the additional cost of 50€ per individual. Assessment is obligatory for case conceptualization, diagnosis and assurance of the individual therapy’s monitoring and long-term effectiveness.

To schedule an appointment for a couple therapy, counseling or coaching session please contact the Institute’s Secretary at Tel: + 30 210 6128950 or by e-mail: info@recbt.gr

Individual Counseling & Therapy: Children, Adolescents, Parents, Educators

Individual counseling and therapy with Children, Adolescents, Parents, Educators and Child health professionals is provided according to Albert Ellis’ Rational–Emotive & Cognitive-Behavior Approach (RECBT) (http:// albertellis.org/RECBT-in-the-context-ofmodern-psychological-research/).

RECBT is relatively short in duration with long-term results (Ellis & Bernard, 2006).

Individual counseling/therapy provides Children and Adolescents with the tools and techniques they need for better emotional health, with necessary skills for better behavior control while it helps Children adopt a rational, smart attitude in their daily life.

Rational-Emotive & Cognitive-Behavior Therapy is an effective, preventive and therapeutic approach that contributes actively to the prosperity of Children, Adolescents, and their families.

The issues addressed in counseling/therapy include issues of daily life, self-acceptance and self-confidence, communication, discomfort tolerance and psychological discipline, interpersonal relationships, transitional life events (e.g., relocation, divorce, etc.), mourning and adjustment difficulties. Individual RECBT sessions are guided by and adjusted to the developmental stage and age of each Child/Adolescent.

There is empirical evidence (see Ellis, Bernard, 2006; Joyce, 2006; Vernon, 2009; Vernon & Bernard, 2006) indicating that Rational Emotive & Cognitive-Behavior Therapy helps Children and Adolescents to effectively manage difficulties and disorders related to stress, anxiety, anger, ADHD, depression, obsessions and compulsions, oppositional-defiant behavior and aggression, post-traumatic stress, eating disorders, beliefs associated with substance abuse and other deviations such as bullying and other forms of violence, learning disabilities, academic underachievement and failure, teenage pregnancy, indecisiveness, self-harm, school truancy, discomfort intolerance and other issues.

Individual sessions are 50 minutes long and cost start at 30€ per session, according to the therapist (therapist-in-training, accredited therapist or staff accredited therapist). An initial assessment package will be provided with a one-time fee of 50€.

Individual counseling/therapy meetings with Children and Adolescents are arranged with the Institute’s Secretary at Tel: +30 210 6128950 or at e-mail: info@recbt.gr

Online sessions are also available, upon request.

Group counseling and therapy with Children, Adolescents, Parents, Educators

Group counseling and therapy with Children and Adolescents, Parents, Educators and Child health professionals are provided according to Albert Ellis’ Rational Emotive & Cognitive-Behavior Approach (RECBT) (http:// albertellis.org/RECBT-in-the-context-ofmodern-psychological-research/).

RECBT is relatively short in duration, with long-term results (Ellis & Bernard, 2006).

Group counseling/therapy helps Children and Adolescents to develop a healthy therapeutic relationship with a RECBT therapist and other group members, to learn cognitive, emotive and Behavior techniques that they need for their emotional health, to sharpen and improve their interpersonal skills for better Behavior control and adopt a rational, smart attitude in their daily life. In addition, within the context of the group, Children and Adolescents are taught social and other interpersonal skills for the establishment and maintenance of healthy relationships with other people and managing difficult interpersonal situations.

In addition, the RECBT approach provides Children and Adolescents the opportunity to challenge and change their underlying irrational beliefs and unhealthy behaviors (i.e., acting out behaviors) within a group format.

The benefits of group counseling/therapy include expanding and building on individual therapy, assisting Children and Adolescents to adopt rational, smart thinking, which is discussed within the group, and build and reinforce social-emotional and Behavior health that can be directly generalized in important social contexts (e.g., school, home).

Similar issues and difficulties are discussed in group counseling/therapy, as those stated above in the “Individual counseling and Therapy with Children, Adolescents, Parents, Educators and Child health professionals” section. Empirical data show that group RECBT has very positive results in addressing Children’s and Adolescents’ social-emotional difficulties (see Terjesen & Esposito, 2006) while the results are often more positive when Parents and Educators attend training groups on Parent coaching and managing Child and Adolescent age-related difficulties plus other mental health issues at home and at school (Joyce, 2006; Trip, Vernon, & McMahon, 2007; Vernon & Bernard, 2006).

Group sessions are 90 minutes long and cost 30€/session. An initial assessment package will be provided with a one-time fee of 50€.

Meetings for Children’s and Adolescents’ group counseling/therapy are arranged with the Institute’s Secretary at Tel: + 30 210 6128950 or by e-mail: info@recbt.gr

Online sessions are also available, upon request.
