Training Programs for Adults – RECBT

Professional Training Programs

The Hellenic Institute of Rational-Emotive & Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (RECBT) offers a four-year professional training program for adults, which includes:

  • Basic & Advanced Certification Training Program
  • Supervision Certification Program

All programs are certified by the Albert Ellis Institute (USA) and are intended for mental health professionals and related fields.

Professional Training Program

These programs aim to train and supervise professionals to provide evidence-based psychotherapy to adults. RECBT, founded by Dr. Albert Ellis (1955), is the foundation of Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy and has been shown to be effective across a wide range of psychological difficulties.

The Institute is the exclusive certified partner of the Albert Ellis Institute in New York, which is recognized by the American Psychological Association and other regulatory bodies in the USA for lifelong education.

Certification Training Programs

Basic & Advanced Certification Program (Two Years)

The first two years of training offer theoretical and practical preparation in the application of RECBT with adults.

Structure:

  • Duration: 280 hours annually (theory, practice, research, individual study, personal psychotherapy)
  • Period: October – June
  • Cost: €1,700 per year or €170 per month
  • Requirements: 90% attendance, successful exams, research work, case studies

Upon completing the Basic and Advanced Training, participants may apply to the Supervision Program.

Supervision Certification Program

The two-year Supervision Program provides intensive clinical experience under the guidance of certified supervisors. It includes individual and group sessions, clinical case supervision, and participation in research workshops.

Structure:

  • Total hours: 740 (clinical work, supervision, research, case studies)
  • Entry requirement: successful completion of the Advanced Program and enrollment in a relevant postgraduate course

Upon completing all training cycles, graduates are awarded the Full RECBT Certification Diploma and may pursue accreditation as a Fully Certified RECBT Therapist by the Hellenic Institute and the Albert Ellis Institute.

Training Topics

Participants receive training in:

  • Theory and application of RECBT in emotional and behavioral disorders
  • Techniques for disputing irrational or unhelpful beliefs
  • Application of RECBT in anxiety, depression, anger, guilt, grief, jealousy, eating and anxiety disorders
  • Developing therapeutic alliance
  • Designing therapeutic interventions

The training meets the standards of the Primary & Advanced Certificate Practicum in RECBT from the Albert Ellis Institute.
